| Frank
Dienst currently lives and works in Central Florida.
Holding degrees in Psychology and Medicine.
In
addition to photography, Dienst has explored alternate
modes of visual expression through painting as well
as extended periods of work as a professional musician.
Dienst
has pursued photography for over twenty years, exploring
the subconscious in search of the visceral bond between
man and earth. Dienst derives visual symbolism with
vibrant light and exotic landscape. The words of the
poet Ruth Bernhard, "Everything is one and I
am one with it," has true meaning for him.
Photographs
from the current series have won regional and national
awards and are currently in numerous private and public
exhibitions.

"What a beautiful, beautiful book of inspiring and
meditative photographs -- a profound tribute to your vision
and to your being. With pleasure I gently turned each
page and gazed with a deep sense of joy, and at times
disbelief in the image that was before me -- simply exquisite
-- magnificent. Thoughts of my dear friend Minor White
and his pioneering photography came to mind. Minor would
have been in awe over your photographs as I was and am.
They are a tributr to your vision, the unseen beauty in
the State of Florida and to the great potential of photography,
in the hands of an artist, to visually remind us that
we are one with each other and that the earth is ideed
our mother -- the archetypal Mother Earth -- Earth Mother!"

"The
images are exceptional, and certainly among the best landscape
and nature work I have seen. Dienst has a wonderful eye
and a unique vision which certainly deserves to be better
known. Lovers of black and white photography would be
remiss not to add this book to their collection."

"Like
Clyde Butcher, Frank Dienst's black and white photographs
capture the stark beauty and intricate wonder of Florida's
natural woreld. DThe photographs in this impressive coffee-table
book are simple -- burned palmettos, fallen pine trees,
blooming wildflowers, tangled roots -- but they convey
the transcendent power of nature." ---
TAMPA TRIBUNE-TIMES, October 1999
"It
can be extremely difficult to mirror the intense beauty
and serenity of the Florida landscape while reproducing
it in black and white photography. Fortunatelt Frank Dienst
applied to the exhibition to exemplify how it is achieved.
Frank will entice anyone to visit Florida's wetlands for
closer inspection." ---
Kristen Austin Harris, Curator, Exhibitions and Collections,

"Delicate,
exotic images reveal the primeval elegance of Florida's
mysterious landscape in Wet Land Voices...Indeeed, the
book not only is ecocative, but its silky pages are richly
sensuous in presentation." ---
Pam Harbaugh, "Photos Let Wetlands Speak", FLORIDA
TODAY, December 1999
Photographs from Wet Land Voices were also
featured in LENSWORK QUARTERLY,
Issue #27, Nov. 1999 - Feb. 2000
